Queensland, Australia LNG Export Terminal Project

 

Project Background: The LNG export terminal construction project in Queensland, Australia, requires a large quantity of cryogenic nickel-steel flanges (ASTM A350 LF1/LF3) and fittings for LNG transmission pipelines operating at -162°C.

Customer Challenges:

– LNG operating conditions require materials to maintain sufficient toughness at -196°C

– Australian standards (AS1050 / AS4041) differ from the domestic ASME system

– The project is located in a remote area, requiring extremely high accuracy in the supply schedule

Solution

– Selected 3.5% Ni steel (LF3) and provided a Charpy impact test report at -196°C

– Cross-referenced against both AS1050 and ASME standards to compile a material equivalence table

– Developed a delivery schedule precise to the week and established a Sydney transit warehouse as a buffer

Deliverables: Zero delays throughout the entire delivery process; products passed Australian third-party

Abu Dhabi Seawater Desalination Plant Project, United Arab Emirates

Project Background:

TAQA (Tata Power Abu Dhabi) is constructing a new large-scale seawater desalination plant that requires a significant quantity of super duplex steel flanges (ASTM A182 F55) and pipe fittings for the high-salinity seawater treatment system.

Customer Challenges:
– The high chloride ion environment of seawater imposes extremely high demands on the material’s resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion
– Must comply with ADNOC (Abu Dhabi National Oil Company) material standards
– Local summer temperatures exceed 50°C, requiring special storage and transportation arrangements

Solution:
– Selected 2507 (S32750) super duplex steel, providing proof of PREN ≥ 40 and CPT test reports
– Completed a Material Technical Review (MTR) in accordance with ADNOC standards and obtained an ADNOC vendor code
– Utilized insulated containers with desiccant for transportation to ensure no corrosion occurs in the high-temperature environment of the Middle East

Deliverables: The product was successfully deployed in the core seawater pretreatment section, and the client added us to its shortlist of global suppliers for ADNOC.
